Now that Tyler's seemingly out of the picture for good (we miss you, Michael Trevino!), Vampire Diaries fans have been eager to pair up Caroline with a new man.
Klaus and Caroline have had an angsty sort of flirtation going on for the better part of two seasons, but news that the Original hybrid would be moving to the potential TVD spin-off, The Originals, next season seemed to put a damper on those Klaroline hopes. Sure, there's a chance The Originals won't get picked up, but there's also a chance Elijah could show up one day in a T-shirt and jorts — both seem highly unlikely.
So that leaves the brooding Stefan Salvatore as Caroline's possible next romance. After all, the vampire pals have been there for each other since Stefan helped Caroline through her transition during Season 2. Even humanity-free Elena has picked up on the Steroline chemistry, calling the pair out for flirting during her impromptu kegger.
According to executive producer Julie Plec, the pairing has definite potential. “All I’ll say on the matter is I’ve been shipping them since episode 2 of season 2, when Stefan took her in the bathroom and told her she is going to be okay," she recently told Entertainment Weekly. "So if I’M shipping them, then maybe one day it’s a road that we can travel down.”
Hmmmm. Plec's "one day" leaves things awfully open-ended for a Stefan/Caroline hook-up, but this definitely sounds more promising than a flat-out denial, no? What do you think?
