Banana Republic Gives Kate Middleton Another Reason to Shop There

Kate Middleton is already a big Banana Republic fan — Princesses! They're not at all like us, except for the fact that they sometimes buy things from Banana Republic. — but now, the retailer has given her extra incentive to shop there, by teaming up with one of her favorite labels, Issa.

Remember the navy blue Issa wrap dress the duchess wore in her official engagement photos? After those pictures went public, demand for the design was so high that Issa almost went bankrupt trying to produce enough copies.

The British label's capsule collection for Banana Republic  — which hits BR stores and BananaRepublic.com on August 6th — will feature 40 pieces inspired by Banana's safari heritage. Think kimono wrap dresses, lots of pleats, African-inspired gold nugget necklaces, patterned scarves, and envelope clutches — all priced from $39 to $150.

"We always love animal prints such as zebra and giraffe stripes,” Simon Kneen, Banana Republic’s creative director and executive vice president of design told WWD. “Issa took that and modernized it. I love that the collection is our world and their world.” So, fingers crossed, this means we'll be seeing Kate Middleton in head-to-toe giraffe soon.
